Free Books for Local School Libraries

Calling all teachers and school librarians!

Did you know that FNOPL provides free gently-used books to local schools for their classrooms and school libraries? We have a wide variety of books for students ranging from Kindergarten through young adult. Each week, retired teacher and FNOPL volunteer Linda Prout and other volunteers, sort hundreds of books by grade level and lovingly pack each box for distribution.

Last month, Sophie Capmartin, Director of Academics at Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans charter school was excited to collect 5 boxes (about 375 books) for her 4th through 8th graders. Her awesome haul included chapter books, graphic novels, fiction and non-fiction. She even found some French language books for the school’s library!

If you are an educator or administrator at a local school, please stop by the Carriage House behind Latter Library, 5120 St. Charles Avenue any Wednesday or Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm. We have books packed and ready to go!
