1,500 Books Donated in January by Friends

Promoting Literacy & Sharing our Love of Reading:

With much excitement and anticipation, Friends of the New Orleans Library donated 1,500 gently used children’s books to the young patients at Children’s Hospital’s Kids First Tiger Care. Their dedicated staff of pediatric primary care providers care for children from birth to young adulthood at clinics throughout Southeast Louisiana.

Chief Resident at LSU Healthy Tigers, Rachel Herdes wrote to us “We were able to collect 1,501 books for Tiger Care Canal this year. The children absolutely love being able to take home a book from our donation book shelf and it enables us as pediatricians to more easily speak with families about the importance of literacy, family bonding time, and decreasing screen time.”

Many thanks to our donors, volunteers and friends who helped put these books into the hands of our city’s young readers! You can be a part of our work promoting literacy and the love of reading throughout our community. Consider a contribution to Friends of the New Orleans Public Library!
